Turck: MAFELEC products now offered (3. strana)

MAFELEC products for railway vehicles are now offered by Turck

acoustic feedback when the button is ac-
tivated.
The HSTIA is complemented by the
HSTIV version with haptic feedback
through vibration. Additional backlighting
also helps passengers with a hearing im-
pairment interact with the controls by the
LEDs changing colour.
Finally, a new type of button pad with
Braille and "stop" lettering is now also ava-
ilable in the horizontal orientation for in-
stallation on horizontal handrails.
You can find a lot of basic information
about the above portfolio on the Mafelec
website. However, feel free to contact us
with any questions about products, soluti-
ons, or more detailed information you are
looking for. We are ready to help you de-
sign standard and demanding applicati-
ons.

passenger safety by providing
additional acoustic feedback
when the button is activated.
The "Digitale Schiene Deutschland" pro-
ject to digitise the German railways conti-
nues. Deutsche Bahn (DB) has inaugura-
ted a fully upgraded control and signalling
technology on the Ruhr-Sieg line between
Letmath and Kreuztal. The new state-of-
the-art digital technology has made the ra-
ilway more robust and reliable while ena-
bling better control and higher train traffic
flexibility. The maintenance of the railway
line will be less expensive and easier. The
commissioning of the interlock is the first
launch under the project funded from a
special programme of the Federal Govern-
ment with an allocation of EUR 500 million.
"Railway digitisation is gathering mo-
mentum. Thanks to close cooperation
between the Federal Government, DB,
and the industry, we have succeeded in
putting the extended and upgraded Fin-
nentrop interlock into operation in just 18
months. Together we are creating a new
railway network for Germany, with higher
capacity and greater reliability. In this way,
we will be able to offer our customers greener
trains and actively protect the environment,"
said Jens Bergmann, Chair for Infrastructure
Planning and Projects of DB Netz AG.
"With the digital technology of the inter-
lock, we have reduced the frequency of
service interruptions and created a basis
for railway automation and greater mobi-
lity by rail. The benefits will be enjoyed by
the passengers, freight operators, and the
environment," says Andre Rodenbeck,
General Manager for Rail Infrastructure at
Siemens Mobility. "Finnentrop shows that,
together with Deutsche Bahn, we are rea-
dy and able to digitise the German rail
network quickly and successfully."
The three interlocks at Nachrodt, Plet-
tenberg, and Altenhundem, which were
between 30 and 50 years old, have been
replaced with modern technology. The th-
ree modules newly installed at Altena,
Plettenberg, and Altenhundem are conne-
cted to the central interlock at Finnentrop,
which is now the hub that controls the en-
tire line.
Siemens Mobility GmbH, acting as the
general contractor, together with
LEONHARD WEISS GmbH & Co.KG, have
upgraded the control technology and sig-
nalling devices for DB in record-breaking ti-
me. A total of 385 kilometres of cables we-
re used on the Lethmath-Kreuztal line,
about 45 kilometres in length, to upgrade
235 signalling devices and 73 switch devi-
ces. In addition, four level crossings were
renewed or replaced and eleven were
adapted to the new technology. p
