HAKAN: Czech test equipment for brake testing of railway vehicles
(Dako, Knorr-Bremse, Wabtec, Wabco,
Westinghouse, Oerlikon, Charmilles).
Users can define any measurement pro-
cedure corresponding to the required re-
gulation (UIC, VPI, ČD, DB, SNCF, etc.)
and create any text protocol with the pos-
sibility of saving graphic representations
of individual pressures. Custom measure-
ment procedures can also be offered. The
HAKAN system can be fully calibrated by
software and the application software
contains all the necessary routines for ca-
libration. Calibration can be performed
on-site and takes no more than a few tens
of minutes, or it can be done at the manu-
facturer's headquarters both in the form
of factory calibration and at the level of
accredited calibration accompanied by an
output calibration certificate issued by the
calibration laboratory according to ČSN
EN ISO/IEC 17025:2018.
HAKAN is a modern measuring system
that provides the operator with the con-
venience of automatic diagnostics. It has a
positive effect on increasing work produc-
tivity and above all provides the user with
full repeatability and documentation of all
measurement results. The system can per-
form measurements in both the manual
mode without the use of the control soft-
ware and in the software-controlled ma-
nual mode. However, the greatest added
value is the fully automatic mode, in
which the software performs the tests on
its own and only stops when operator in-
put from the keyboard is required or
when the operator needs to intervene in
the test object, e.g. by resetting a lever on
the carriage. The test results are stored in
the operator device in PDF format or di-
rectly in a designated database. This cor-
responds perfectly to today's require-
ments for the production, operation, and
repair of rolling stock.
The development of the HAKAN system
is constantly moving forward and keeping
up with the latest trends in the field of rol-
ling stock braking systems. Innovations
such as the implementation of downforce
measurement on disc and block brakes
must also be noted. On-vehicle testing of
brake pipe accelerators. Options for anti-
skid switch testing or electropneumatic
brake testing on passenger carriages. Of
course, we also implement new require-
ments from existing and new customers.
The high flexibility and versatility of the
equipment, together with the professional

support, training, consulting), are the pre-
requisites for customer satisfaction and for
remaining at the forefront of the rolling
