Walter today: a rich history and readiness for the future

The company was founded in 1919 by Richard Walter in Düsseldorf under the name "Metallurgische Gesellschaft Richard

Walter und Co." Walter was particularly

interested in sintered carbide alloys and in

new metallurgical methods.

Today, Walter AG is one of the world leaders in teh machining of metals. This machining specialist offers a wide assortment

of precise tools for milling, turning, drilling

and threading. Working alongside its customers, Walter develops tailor-made solutions for the comprehensive processing

of parts for general engineering, aerospace, automotive and power engineering.

The company motto of Engineering Kompetenz applies to the entire machining

process. An innovative partner for highly

efficient, digitised process solutions, Water numbers among the trail-blazers of Industry 4.0. Walter AG employs over 3,500

workers and, working with a number of

subsidiaries and trading partners, serves

customers from over 80 countries.

The company's balance totals have developed very favourably in recent years.

In 2018, Walter once again increased its

annual sales over the previous year and

special 2020

T+T Technika a trh

broke its previous record, exceeding the

EUR 750 million mark in turnover for the

first time. This growth was the result of an

"increased volume of production of indexable inserts and tool holders due to generally increased sales across the Walter

group..."

Even 100 years after the company's

founding, this high demand is based on

Walter's innovative power. But today, this

innovation reaches past sintered carbide

tools and applies to a new assortment of

services provided to customers hailing

from across the entire process chain. With

more than 15,000 customers and numerous sales branches and partners in 80

countries, the group is, without a doubt,

one of the world leaders in its field. And

the company still sets the bar for innovation in boring, turning, milling and threading with its sintered carbide tools. Just as

Richard Walter did with his ground-breaking novel tools at the time of the founding of "Metallurgische Gesellschaft Richard Walter und Co." in 1919.

Yet despite that, the company faces

challenges it has not seen in the hundred

years of its existence.

Aside from uncertainty in the area of trade policy and enormous growth in Chinese innovative and economic power, the

most revolutionary changes are caused by

quickly advancing digitisation.

That makes the strategic decisions made

by Walter shortly after these challenges

became apparent look that much more

prescient in hindsight. Walter Multiply

and Walter Nexxt are impressive examples of how innovative digital solutions

can bring added value and help find the

right solution to meet every customer's

demands. A solution applicable not only

now, but also in the context of the much

debated Industry 4.0, whose challenges

Walter is ready to meet head on.

And as has always been the case over

the course of the company's hundred years of history, Walter's answers to Industry

4.0's questions will be the result of meticulous research, purposeful development

and passionate precision. They will be the

continuation of the tradition established

by Richard Walter, whose name the company carries into the modern age.
