TMTS 2026
Taiwan‘s Machine Tool Cluster
Opens Its Doors to Europe
What can Czech and European
companies look forward to at TMTS
„One ofthe most important things isthat thevenue
is in Taichung. Around 90 percent of Taiwan‘s
machine tool production value is concentrated
within a60-kilometer radius ofthe city. Sonot only
can you explore new technologies through TMTS,
you also have the opportunity to visit the factories
directly, to see how things are made and how
the manufacturing industry in Taiwan actually
works.“
That geographic density is not just a logistical
convenience. Itmeans visitors can move from trade
fair oor to production hall in a matter of minutes,
gaining aground-level understanding ofthe supply
chains and manufacturing capabilities behind
theproducts ondisplay.
What are the key technology themes
this year?
„The buzzword right now is how to apply AI
inmanufacturing andmachine tools. This time, alot
ofour exhibitors are showcasing AI applications for
digital and green transformation, and how these
can be used to build smarter, more sustainable
manufacturing solutions that require less manual
labor than before.“
Chen is direct about thestakes involved: „We don‘t
want tobe thepeople who get eliminated bypeople
who use AI.“ That urgency is shaping how TMBA
coordinates its member companies. Rather than
leaving individual rms to develop AI applications
in isolation, the association is actively pushing for
collective solutions across theindustry.
What makes this year‘s exhibition
different from previous editions?
Beyond individual machines, this year‘s TMTS places
emphasis on what Chen calls ecosystem solutions.
Exhibitors are not only presenting their own products
but also bringing suppliers and partners into their
booths todemonstrate how AI components integrate
across the broader production chain. The goal is to
address customer pain points holistically, rather
than offering standalone technical answers.
„Visitors can see a different perspective on how
to utilize the advantages of the Taichung cluster
todeliver highly responsive solutions for customers,“
Chen adds.
So companies looking for a strong
partner in complex AI development will
be at home here?
„Denitely. The semiconductor industry in Taiwan
isvery prominent right now, andthat isinuencing
every company in the country, including machine
tool manufacturers. Weare, ina sense, theupstream
part ofthe value chain for all our customers. Everyone
is working intensively on new AI applications for
smart manufacturing.“
For Czech and European rms, TMTS 2026 offers
arare chance toengage with anindustrial cluster that
combines scale, density, anda collective drive toward
AI-integrated manufacturing, all within asingle city.
